Unit Design

• Frame: Mild steel epoxy coated mounting frame
• 1st stage: 20 micron pre filter for the removal of sediment and suspended matter
• 2nd stage: Activated carbon block for the removal of organics, chlorine and unwanted taste and odour
• 3rd stage: 5 micron pre filter for the removal of fine sediment and suspendended matter
• 4th stage: Stainless steel Ultra Violet sterilising unit for the eradication of bacteria, viruses, algae and spores

How It Works

• Pre filters: remove fine sediment and particulate matter by allowing water to pass but trapping all sediment bigger than the micron rating of the filter.
• Activated carbon filter: Due to its very large surface area Activated Carbon has excellent absorption properties, effectively removing many contaminants including organics, pesticides, herbicides, Chlorine and unwanted tastes and odour.
• Ultra violet sterilizer: UV disinfection of water consists of a purely physical, chemical-free process. UV-C radiation attacks the vital DNA of the bacteria directly. The radiation initiates a reaction that destroys the genetic information contained in DNA. The bacteria lose their reproductive capability and are destroyed.
• Maintenance:
  Pre-filters need to be replaced when dirty, this could be anywhere from 1 – 6 months depending on the water quality. Activated Carbon Filters should be replaced every 3-6 months depending on the usage of the system

N.B: Ultra Violet lamps need to be replaced annually, the lamps will still appear to be burning but after 1 year the germicidal effect is no longer effective.
